Shahid Mohammad Hossein Fahmideh Specialty Children’s Hospital was founded in 1954. In the years before the revolution, the hospital was run by the Red Lion and Sun Society. After the glorious Islamic Revolution, first the Red Crescent Society and then the Tehran Province Healthcare Office took control of this hospital. Currently, it works under supervision of the Iran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. This hospital is a single-specialty center for children and infants and it provides treating services.

Insight and Value
Every individual of the society is to maintain and respect human dignity. This is especially important in cases involving diseases. According to our constitution, observation of the human dignity is one of the basic principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government is obliged to provide health services for every citizen of the country. Accordingly, provision of health services should be fair and by observing respect and dignity of the patients. This charter is formulated considering high values ​​of humanity based on Islamic-Iranian culture and inherent equity of all recipients of healthcare services, aiming to preserve, promote, and consolidate the human relationship between providers and receivers of healthcare services.
Patient Rights
1. Every patient is entitled to receive the best healthcare services. These services should:
1.1. Be worthy of the dignity of human beings and provided with respect for values, cultural and religious beliefs.
1.2. Be provided with honesty, fairness, politeness, and kindness.
1.3. Be free of any discrimination based on ethnicity, culture, religion, type of disease, and gender.
1.4. Be based on the latest knowledge of the day.
1.5. Be based on the priority of the patient’s interests.
1.6. Be based on justice and medical priorities when it comes to distribution of healthcare resourced.
1.7. Be based on coordination of all healthcare elements including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
1.8. Be accompanied with provision of all basic and essential amenities, without imposing unnecessary pain, restraints, and suffering.
1.9. Mind the rights of vulnerable classes of the society, including children, pregnant women, elderlies with mental conditions, prisoners, mentally and physically disabled, and orphans.
1.10. Be provided as quickly as possible and by respecting the patient’s time.
1.11. Be provided considering variables such as language, age, and gender of the receivers of the services.
1.12. Be provided regardless of the fees in emergency cares and in accordance with regulations in elective cares.
1.13. Facilitate transfer of the patient to a well-equipped facility after providing essential services and necessary explanations, in emergency cases where provision of proper services is not possible.
Hospital Wards
The hospital has a 24-hour specialty children’s clinic, with six pediatricians (two for each shift) serving patients every day.
It also includes the following subspecialty clinics:
  • Asthma and allergies (every afternoon, 19:00 onwards)
  • Newborn Subspecialty (Saturdays)
  • Growth, Endocrine, and Metabolism (Dr. Karimi, Endocrinologist, Saturday to Wednesday, 8:00 to 15:00)
  • Psychology (Thursdays from 12:30 onwards by appointment (+98 21 5540 4330, extension 225)
  • Nutrition (Sundays and Tuesdays from 14:00 onwards)
Laboratory and radiology para-clinics serve the clients round-the-clock.
